Martin Luts imagines what the world might look like if it had to be recreated from the beginning.
Not from complete knowledge, but from a fragment of an idea. A flower. A place. An object. A person. From that fragment, each painting becomes one possible reconstruction of the world.
Geometry becomes the first language through which increasingly complex forms emerge. Simple shapes gradually develop into flowers, architecture, objects and people, suggesting a world taking shape.
Working exclusively in oil paint, Luts continues a centuries-old tradition while imagining a world yet to be created. Forms appear precise yet remain subtly unstable - as if remembered, imagined or rediscovered. Geometry provides structure, while imperfection gives each work its tension and vitality.
At the heart of Luts' practice lies the relationship between the ideal and the material: between the idea of a thing and its painted form. His paintings explore how a world might emerge when geometry gives ideas form.
